Origin:
Patagonian Walnut is in the same family as Brazilian Walnut/Ipe. It has a lighter brown color than Brazilian Walnut and offers golden/tan highlights. It also offers a more rowed grain/curl figure

Appearance:
Patagonian Walnut ranges in color from a golden tan to a medium-brown color. Some pieces may have some darker brown graining. There is a slight degree of colour change resulting in a darkening of the overall hue with golden highlights with ageing.

With natural durability, superior performance, incredible beauty, Patagonian Walnut is an extremely dense tropical hardwood with excellent durability and performance characteristics.

Its a striking exotic species which ranges from olive brown to blackish in color with ratings for harness and durability being amongst the highest of all timber worldwide.

Patagonian Walnut heartwood is olive brown to blackish, often with lighter or darker striping, often covered with a yellow powder; sharply demarcated from the whitish or yellowish sapwood.

Workability:
This durable South American hardwood is rated by the US Forest Products Lab for a 25 year life. It is naturally resistant to fire, having a NFPA Class A rating and a UBC Class 1 rating (the same as steel and concrete!)

Patagonian Walnut wood naturally resists insects, rot and mildew, and it can be used in ground contact without preservatives or additional treatments.
